THURSLEY COTTAGE KITCHEN
The perfect blend of old and new

PROJECT: Thursley Cottage Kitchen | LOCATION: Thursley | YEAR: 2026
This project set out to strike a balance between old and new in a beautiful and characterful Surrey cottage, giving the owners a modern kitchen without losing the character of the house around it. The palette is deliberately muted, with the main cabinetry in Little Greene No.143 Rolling Fog and the island in natural oak.
The worktops are Cosystone Calacatta Vagli, which works really well with the warmth of the oak and the muted tones of the other cabinetry. It has an ogee edge profile on the island that provides a nod to the style of the house and add a little bit of character and detail.
The chimney breast next to the kitchen run has a reduced depth pantry cupboard, fitted with spice racks, whilst the fireplace itself became one of the kitchen's standout features, reimagined as a bar nook and finished with an antique mirror. An Abode boiling water tap in an aged brass finish sits on the island, matching the brass hardware used throughout the kitchen.
Even the smaller details were given proper attention: the cornice was caulked into the ceiling rather than left as a visible line, giving the room a clean, seamless finish throughout. The result is a kitchen that feels entirely at home in a cottage setting while working hard for everyday life.
