A fabul;ously colourful utility, boot and wine room
The Boot Room
Painted in Farrow & Ball's Eating Room Red No. 43 and wrapped floor-to-ceiling in Isabella Worsley's Cadogan wallpaper, this boot room has real character everywhere you look.
Behind identical, ventilated cupboard doors are the boiler, hot water cylinder, water softener, fuse board and underfloor heating manifold - all fitted so seamlessly that nothing gives the game away. Our favourite is the secret cupboard for the household keys, A bespoke bench and a run of cabinetry carefully scribed in beneath the room's original, uneven ceiling round off a scheme built on real attention to detail and oozing warmth and personality.
The Utility Room
Farrow & Ball's Sudbury Yellow brings real sunshine to this utility room, matched to the colour-drenched walls, with herringbone terracotta flooring and warm brushed brass hardware. Behind a run of tall, fitted cabinetry, are an integrated larder freezer and a full air conditioning unit is hidden behind a slim, reduced-depth cupboard with a discreet vent let into the skirting below - proof that even the hardest-working room in the house can still look this good.
The Wine Room
Finished in lacquered oak against walls and ceiling painted in Farrow & Ball's Eating Room Red, this wine room is the standout space of the project.
Floor-to-ceiling wine racks, front-lit and designed to hold everything from full cases to magnums, flank the room alongside drinks and wine fridges, a prep sink and space for a freestanding ice maker. Even the air conditioning is hidden in plain sight, its vent hidden behind a solid oak grille that forms part of the wine rack itself.
This is a great example of form meeting function - what can’t be seen is the collaboration between the designer, the air-conditioning supplier, the builder and our fitter to ensure that everything went in as it should. Great design is nothing without great execution and teamwork!
